Brew Guide
1. Aeropress
prepare water and coffee
Heat 220 grams of water to a boil. Weigh 15-18 grams of coffee. Once you have the appropriate amount of coffee, use your grinder to grind it to a consistency similar to sea salt.
Next, add a filter to the detachable cap of the Aeropress. Make sure that you wet the filter. Then you can set it to the side.
After you do this, place the plunger at the end of the Aeropress chamber. Once this is complete, flip the Aeropress and put it on top of your scale. The plunder should be touching the scale and the chamber should be facing upwards. Now, the Aeropress is ready for the water to be poured.
Add coffee and pour the water
Add your freshly ground coffee into the chamber. Start the timer. The entire process only takes about 90 seconds.
After 30 seconds pass, fill the rest of the chamber with water, then wait 60 seconds. Stir ten times once 60 seconds has passed.
Fasten the cap and flip
Take the detachable cap and filter that you set aside previously and fasten the cap to the chamber. Make sure it is locked tight!
Flip the entire assembly over carefully but quickly.
Press and serve
Press down the plunger. It shouldn’t be too hard to do this. If you are getting a lot of resistance, you might have ground the coffee too much. There should be a little resistance, but not much.
Plunge the coffee into your mug. Then, you can enjoy it as soon as it is cool enough to drink!
2. Chemex
Prepare and Preheat
First, heat your water until it is roughly 200-205 degrees F.
Next, grind your coffee in your grinder. Continue until the coffee has a consistency that is similar to sea salt.
Place your filter inside of the Chemex and wet it. Make sure you pour out any water that remains in your decanter before moving to the next step.
Add Coffee and Make Your First Pour
Add 42 grams of coffee to the decanter on top of the first. Next, pour about 80 grams of water over the coffee. Start pouring in the middle and spiral your way outward until all of the coffee grounds are wet. This will allow the coffee grounds to expand and bloom.
Now, wait about 45 seconds before making your next pour. You can use your timer to help you wait for the correct time.
Make Your Additional Pours
After 45 seconds have passed, you can make your second pour. For this pour, you will add 200 grams of water onto the coffee grinds.
As the water starts to drip down into the bottom section of the decanter, you can add more water until you have reached your desired amount of coffee.
Wait another 45 seconds and repeat this step with another 200 grams of water for your third pour. Finally, wait another 45 seconds and make your fourth and final pour with 135 grams of water.
Let the Coffee Finish Brewing, then Serve!
After you have made your fourth pour, give the Chemex a few minutes to finish brewing the coffee. Then, you can serve and enjoy a delicious cup of freshly brewed coffee!
3. DRIPKIT
Prepare water and DRIPKIT
Boil water until it reaches a temperature of 205 degrees F.
Next, tear the blue strip of the DRIPKIT. Make sure you hold it upright so that you do not spill the coffee grounds.
Position the DRIPKIT and Make Your First Pour
Push the DRIPKIT open. There are notches on the ends of the dripper that will fit over the edges of the cup. Put the DRIPKIT on top of the cup.
Then, make your first pour. Pour the hot water on top of the DRIPKIT. Fill the DRIPKIT to the top and let it slowly drain into the cup below.
Make the Rest of Your Pours
After your first pour, you are going to make three more pours for a total of four. Wait thirty seconds in between each pour.
Remove the DRIPKIT and Enjoy Your Coffee!
This is the best step. Simply remove the DRIPKIT from your cup and then you can start drinking your delicious coffee!
4. French Press
Prepare and Preheat
Boil your water and let it sit at about 205 degrees F. Grind roughly 30 grams of coffee beans. Continue grinding them until they have the consistency of coarse sea salt. We will be using a roughly 1:12 coffee-to-water ratio.
Add Coffee Grounds and Make Your First Pour
Add your 30 grams of coffee grounds into the French press. Next, pour approximately 100 grams of hot water into the French press and let the coffee bloom for 30 seconds. You can use your timer to count out this time
Make Your Second and Final Pour
Carefully pour 300 grams of water over your coffee grounds inside of the French press and stir the mixture.
Cover the chamber of the French press with the plunger. However, do not press it down yet. Instead, wait roughly three minutes and thirty seconds for the coffee to steep and finish brewing.
Plunge and Serve
Once you finish pressing the plunger down, you can serve the coffee immediately and enjoy!

6. Kalita Wave
Prepare Coffee and Water
Bring water to a boil and let it sit at 205 degrees F. Next, grind 20 grams of coffee until it is slightly finer than the consistency of sea salt. We will be using a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio and will be making about two cups of coffee.
Once you have ground the coffee, place your filter in the Kalita wave. Wet the filter with your preheated hot water and then pour out any remaining water from the decanter.
Make Your First Pour
Start your timer and carefully pour 40g of water over the grounds. Pour the water in a spiral fashion starting in the center and making your way out towards the edges. After you finish pouring, wait 30 seconds for the coffee to bloom and release carbon dioxide.
Make Your Additional Pours
Carefully pour an additional 80 grams of water into the Kalita Wave on top of the coffee grounds. Use the same spiral pouring motion. Keep pouring until your scale reads 120g. Then wait 45 seconds
Make your third pour, and add another 80g of water into the decanter. Then, wait another 45 seconds.
Then, make your fourth and final pour. For this pour, you will add 120g of water. Then, let the Kalita Wave finish brewing the coffee. Let it rest for a few minutes while the remaining water passes through the beans and the filter.
Pour and Enjoy!
Once all of the water has passed through the filter and the beans, and you have let it rest for a minute or two, you can pour the coffee into your mug and enjoy!
7. Moka pot
Prepare
We will be starting out with cold water for this brewing method as opposed to hot water. Fill your Moka Pot with cold water. Fill it up until the water reaches just beneath the neck of the pot.
We will be starting out with cold water for this brewing method as opposed to hot water. Fill your Moka Pot with cold water. Fill it up until the water reaches just beneath the neck of the pot.
Attach the Top of the Pot and Boil
Attach the top of the Moka Pot and make sure you close it properly. Then, put the entire device over a heat source such as a burner on medium heat. Do not use high heat because this can result in the coffee being extracted too quickly.
Heat the pot until the coffee is foaming and you see bubbles starting to slightly spill over the sides of the pot. Next, take the pot off of the heat until the foaming subsides. Repeat this process of letting it boil and then removing the pot to let the foam subside two more times.
Pour and Enjoy
Once you complete the third and final boil, the coffee should be ready to be served. Pour it carefully out of the Moka Pot into your cup. Give the coffee a minute to settle and cool off. Then, you can start sipping it and enjoying that delicious flavor!
8. Single-Serve Brew Bags
Prepare the Water and the Pouch
Heat the water to 205 degrees F and pour it into a cup. Then, remove the single-serve brew bag pouch from the wrapper. Put the pouch into the cup and put the tag and string outside of the cup.
Pour the Water
Carefully pour 10-12 ounces of water into the cup with the pouch in it. Allow the coffee to brew for 2-3 minutes to get the perfect flavor.
Remove the Pouch and Enjoy!
Take the pouch out of the mug and enjoy your freshly made coffee!
9. V60
Prepare Coffee and Water
Grind your coffee beans with your grinder until the consistency of the beans is similar to sea salt. We will be using 21 grams of coffee beans to make about 2 cups of coffee. Use a 1:15 ratio of coffee to water.
Put your filter in the V60 and wet it. After you do this, pour the remaining water out of the decanter before moving to the next step.
Make Your First Pour
For this pour, add just 42 grams of water into the decanter over the coffee grounds. Use a spiral motion to pour the water, starting in the center and making your way towards the edges.
After you finish pouring, wait 30 seconds.
Make Your Additional Pours
For your second pour, you will add 90 grams of water to the decanter over the coffee grounds. Keep pouring water until your scale reads 130 grams.
Then, wait 60 seconds before you begin your third pour. For your third pour, you will add another 100 grams of water so that your scale will read 230 grams. Then wait another 60 seconds before making your fourth pour.
For the fourth and final pour, add another 120 grams of hot water into the decanter using the same spiral motion.
Stir, Pour, and Enjoy!
Once all of the water has passed through the beans and the filter, you can stir the coffee and let it cool off for a minute or two. Then, you can pour it into your mug and enjoy!
